If you don't earn that status through actual play over a set period of time then you will reset to whatever tier status you actually earned, in most cases.
Also, in most cases only new members can tier match and/or you can only tier match once. I don't recommend tier matching just because you can. For example, you want to build loyalty at a different property or there is a specific tier benefit you want to take advantage of after you match.
There are but is there a reason you want to tier match? Are you looking to switch most, if not all, of your play from Caesars? IMO, it only makes sense to tier match if there is a very specific reason to do so.
